Recent reports revealed that José Ángel Sánchez, Real Madrid’s General Director and Director of Football, held a meeting with head coach Carlo Ancelotti to discuss the reasons behind the team's loss to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final. According to ESPN, the meeting served as an opportunity to analyze the current challenges the team is facing.
The meeting took place after the press conference ahead of Real Madrid’s match against Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey 2024/2025. Sources mentioned that Ancelotti used this opportunity to once again urge the club’s management to secure the signing of English star Trent Alexander-Arnold during the winter transfer window to strengthen the team’s squad.
Reports also indicated that Real Madrid’s management has full confidence in Ancelotti’s ability to improve the team’s situation in the second half of the season, with hopes that his calm demeanor will help address the current issues and restore balance to the team.
Despite the defeat to Barcelona, the club’s management remains confident that the La Liga title is still within reach, especially since the gap to league leaders Atlético Madrid is just one point.
In other news, Real Madrid is set to face Celta Vigo today, Thursday, in the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey. The match will take place at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium at 11:30 PM Mecca time and 10:30 PM Cairo time.
